Volunteers extend a hand as refugees celebrate Muslim holiday

Houston is one of the largest hubs in the USA for refugees coming from countries such as Somalia, Palestine, Burma, Iraq and Afghanistan. Aware of the multitude of challenges facing young refugees, AlAmaanah strives to help refugees integrate into society and adjust to the American lifestyle.

This year AlAmaanah is working with a group of local volunteers led by Houston-native Jida Nabulsi to host the 2nd Annual Pink and Blue Eid Celebration. The annual event was created in 2009 to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr, the holiday after the holy month of Ramadan. The event will allow AlAmaanah refugees (clients) to interact with fellow immigrants and the greater Houston community and celebrate the festive Muslim holiday.

The Pink and Blue Eid Celebration will foster an atmosphere of caring and support and allow volunteers to see how their time, efforts and donations impact the lives of those who wish to start their lives over in the United States.

This year the event will cater to children between the ages of 5 and 15.  The celebration will include presents, games, arts and crafts, moonwalks and, of course, candy!

We invite you to join the celebration!
