Volunteer Houston, Houston’s sole referral service connecting volunteers to a broad spectrum of diverse nonprofit organizations, recently elected 13 new members to its Board of Directors increasing its membership from 10 to 22. The new board will be tasked with implementation of the nonprofit’s new expansion strategy and production of the 30th Greater Houston Service Awards taking place on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at the Bayou City Event Center, 9401 Knight Road, Houston, TX 77045. The public is invited to attend.
“For 40 years, Volunteer Houston has had a vision to make volunteering central in the lives of Houstonians through its mission to engage more people and resources more effectively in volunteer service,” said Volunteer Houston CEO Cameron Waldner. “We are excited to welcome several new members to the board increasing our energy and capacity to expand our programming.”

For 40 years, nonprofit organizations all around Houston and its vicinity have relied on Volunteer Houston to acquire over 35,000 volunteers per year. In 2014 improvements to the website, volunteer connection, disaster response support and criminal background screenings have made way for Volunteer Houston 2.0.
The organization offers several programs that empower the community, which include: volunteer management training, youth volunteering, signature days of service, volunteer corporate services, summer jobs and internships.
