The Vietnamese Culture and Science Association (VCSA) sponsored the Sixteenth Annual Vietnamese-American Youth Excellence Recognition Program to commemorate the accomplishments of outstanding Vietnamese-American high school students. VCSA annually recognizes the academic achievements of Vietnamese American high school students who graduated as either valedictorian or salutatorian of their respective high schools. The program also serves to encourage the younger Vietnamese-American generations to strive for academic excellence and instill a strong sense of civic responsibility among all Vietnamese-Americans in the Greater Houston area.
In addition to the Recognition Program, VCSA hosted a luncheon featuring authentic Vietnamese cuisine, scholarship award presentations, cultural performances featuring beautiful Vietnamese traditions and attire, and a keynote address by Dr. Quyen Chu, Professor of Surgery, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.
Based in Houston, Texas, VCSA was founded in 1990. It has members throughout the U.S. and Canada. VCSA promotes excellence in education, leadership and skills development, and volunteerism through culture and science. The organization encourages multi-generational and cross-cultural collaborations by cultivating civic participation in the mainstream and Vietnamese America.
