Veterans Organization Promotes Entrepreneurship in Military Youth

Houston, TX. - The Women Veterans Business Center will host their Inaugural Military Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge on Saturday, November 19, 2011. The Challenge will be held during the Women Veterans Business Center Anniversary Event, 9am – 3pm, at The Palm Center 5330 Griggs Road in Houston, Texas.

The Military Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge will expose Military Youth, ages 13 – 18, to Entrepreneurship as a viable career choice. Military Youth participating in the Challenge will compete in Teams to utilize their creativity and business acumen to produce strategies that will assist local business owners to grow their businesses.

The Challenge will offer Military Youth the opportunity to network with successful Business Owners, Government and Non-Profit Leaders in the Houston community.

Houston (and its surrounding counties) is home to over 200,000 Veterans, nearly 30,000 Women Veterans and many Military Youth.
Marylyn Harris, Women Veterans Business Center Founder, is a former Army Nurse and Business Owner.

“In Houston, we do not have a military base. Most of our returning Service Members are Reservists and National Guardsmen” says Harris.“ Many return home to find that their jobs no longer exist.

The Women Veterans Business Center believes that anyone in the Military Family can be an Entrepreneur and educates the entire Military Family about Entrepreneurship.”

Participation in the Military Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge is free to Houston area Military Youth who have a parent that has served or is currently serving in any branch of the US Military.

The Women Veterans Business Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and conduit providing Veteran Owned Suppliers to Industry, Government and the Non-Profit Sector. Center services include, Event Planning (Outreach Events), Business Training and Business Coaching.
