Houston, TX-Spring training is over for the Texas Southern Tigers football team; now it’s time to show what they have learned over the past several weeks.
The Tigers will play their spring football game on Saturday, April 21st at the Alexander Durley Stadium on TSU’s campus. New football head coach Darrell Asberry will put his newly installed offense up against the TSU 2011 FCS top defense in the nation. Kickoff is at 2:30pm.
Before the game, the Texas Southern University Alumni along with the TSU Sports Studies Leadership Student Association will have a flag football game on the field at 11:00am. They will also have tailgating in the pavilions area behind the student center where fans and supporters can gather and enjoy the activities.
This is coach Asberry’s first season at the helm, and he is getting his players ready to win. “I believe that discipline is the cornerstone of success in all areas of life,” Asberry said. “When we are in the final minutes of a close game, the team that commits the fewest mistakes usually wins. That comes from discipline, focus and working together as a team.”
The Tigers will also play the 2012 season in their new home, the BBVA Compass Stadium just east of downtown. The 22,000 seat facility is ready and season tickets are available. Go to www.tsuball.com for more information or call 713-313-4355.
