Have you ever wanted to have the opportunity to join the USA team and compete against other countries in a sport you are passionate about? The opportunity has finally arrived in Houston. For the first time ever, the city of Houston will be hosting National Trials & Team Selections for all paddlers who are interested in joining the USA Dragon Boats and compete in Poznan, Poland at the ICF Dragon Boat World Champions on August 28-31, 2014.
The Texas Dragon Boat Association and the Dragon Boat USA have been working together to get the National Trials here to the central part of the United States for a while. Eve Marie Ruhlman, the President of the Texas Dragon Boat Association, stated, “We are beyond excited to bring this opportunity to the Lone Star State. Many people do not know what Dragon Boating is all about and do not know that there is such an amazing sport and cultural event that happens here. We know that we have amazing paddlers here and it is time to get these individuals to represent our state and our country.”
The National Trials will be held at MUD Lake in Clear Lake on March 1 & 2, 2014. The trials will be consistent of paddling/steering clinic, evaluations and time trials over the two day event. Registration is $100 for the Clinic and $120 for the Clinics and trial and any paddler is welcome to register and compete.
