The Insperity Golf Experience at Discovery Green Extends Operations into December
Miniature Golf Course to remain open through Dec. 25, 2011
HOUSTON – Dec. 2011 – The InsperityTM Golf Experience at Discovery Green has extended its operations through Dec. 25, providing park visitors with one more activity to enjoy during the winter holidays. The nine-hole miniature golf course, created by local artists, will be open on weekends and school holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More than 5,000 visitors have played the Insperity Golf Experience course since the inaugural putt on Sept. 1.
Located on the Sarofim Picnic Lawn, the Insperity Golf Experience was a new addition to the 2011 fall park programming season. The course is a first-of-its kind attraction with artfully crafted holes reflecting select local artists’ talents, inspirations and hobbies. The interactive art exhibition was curated by Clint Willour. The artists who created the golf holes include The Art Guys, Elaine Bradford, Bill Davenport, Noah Edmundson, GONZO247 of Aerosol Warfare, Jonathan Leach, Jason Makepeace, Seth Mittag, Anthony Thompson Schumate and Emily Sloan. Admission is $5 and group packages are available.
The Winter Season at Discovery Green began Nov. 24 with the opening of St. Joseph Medical Center’s Ice at Discovery Green presented by the Houston Chronicle and Momentum Luxury Auto Group. The rink will be open daily through Jan. 22. Admission is $10 plus tax, which includes skate rental. Discovery Green is a 12-acre park created by a public-private partnership between the City of Houston and the non-profit Discovery Green Conservancy. Since the park opened in April 2008, it has welcomed more than 3 million visitors and hosted more than 800 public and private events.
