The Crosby Zydeco Festival Returns to the Crosby Fairgrounds and Supports Breast Cancer Awareness in Association with The Guidry Cowgirls ‘n Trailridaz “Trail Ride for the Cure”October 14 thru October 16, 2011- Crosby Fairgrounds 700 Church St., Crosby, Texas
Houston, TX – October 6, 2011 – Founder of Solo Zydeco Productions, Troy Barrett brings The Crosby Zydeco Festival back home to the Crosby Fairgrounds for three days filled with fun, food and a purpose. This year the Crosby Zydeco Festival unites with the Guidry Cowgirls N Trailridaz to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Houston Foundation. This alliance bonds a community of breast cancer survivors and supporters with family fun, food, music and a two day “trail ride for the cure” of breast cancer.
The weekend kicks off Friday, October 14th with a dance featuring Lil Pookie Zydeco and a gumbo cook-off in search of the best gumbo in Texas and Louisiana. Saturday, October 15th features a full line up of entertainment with featured artist to include: Lil Nate and the Zydeco Big Timers, Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws,Leon Chavis and the Zydeco Flames, Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws plus the GCNT “Trail Ride for the Cure” which will ride both Saturday and Sunday.
On Sunday, October 16th, the fun continues with a “Party of the Green” featuring Cupid and his new song “Do It With Your Boots On” and a Cupid Shuffle Contest.Susan G. Komen’s, Tania Cruz, PR and Events Manager states that “Over the course of a lifetime, one out of every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. The Houston Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® works hard to save lives and end breast cancer forever through its programs and funding in Southeast Texas.
It is through the support of organizations like the Crosby Zydeco Festival and Trailride that we are able to continue to fund education, screening and treatment programs. Together we are making a difference.” Solo Zydeco Productions founder, Troy Barrett will present a donation to Susan G. Komen Foundation in support of increasing awareness for the cure and said “I am encouraged to do more for breast cancer awareness now and in the future because the Crosby Zydeco Festival is going to change lives, educate people and raise awareness for the cure”.
The “Trail Ride for the Cure” will award participants $1,000 for the best wagon on Saturday and $1,000 for the most members riding on Sunday.
