THE COMMUNITY RALLY’S FOR VOTER EDUCATION AND REGISTRATION

The Fountain of Praise and Senator Rodney Ellis host the
“I ROCK” Voter’s Registration Rally

Houston, Texas – In an effort to spread awareness, educate the community on important issues
and register voter’s for the upcoming November 6th general election, The Fountain of Praise and
Senator Rodney Ellis will host the “I ROCK” Voter’s Registration Rally on Saturday,
September 15, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

“I ROCK” an acronym for I’m Registered, Obligated, Counted and Knowledgeable, the rally will
host constituents from the surrounding Houston metropolis. All are encouraged to come out,
register to vote, and discuss issues that concern our community with its top political leaders and
local activist.

Critical topics to be discussed include the issues concerning the voter’s
registration drive and the Referendum of the Light Rail System in Fort Bend County. Also,
forums on the issues that plague our criminal justice system, education, social services, health
and more will be presented. Youth, unregistered voters and the inactive members of the
community are strongly urged to participate.

Senator Rodney Ellis (D-Houston), in his recent August 30, 2012, press release applauded the
Federal Court’s unanimous decision to reject Texas’ controversial voter ID law. Ellis heralded
the Courts stating, “I thank the DC Federal Court for standing up for voting rights and
against discrimination and disenfranchisement.Throughout this entire process, Texas consistently failed to produce information showing the law would not have a discriminatory impact on minority voters. The Voting Rights Act exists for this exact
purpose: protecting the ability of all Americans to access the ballot box.”

The defeat of this legislation is a great example of what can happen when an informed and
active community pulls together to address crucial issues. To continue the strength and
enthusiasm of this initiative there will be a limited platform of speakers who will present their
positions on key issues. This is an excellent opportunity for political candidates, churches,
community organizations and educational institutions to meet their constituents and share their
views, information and resources. We encourage all political candidates and organizations to
join us.

Candidates and organizations interested in participating in the rally are asked to email us at
vote-now@tfop.org. Our goal is to get people active, involved and working together for a better
and stronger community. The event is FREE to the public and all, regardless of political
affiliation, are encouraged to attend.
