Texas Real Estate Development Company and Interior Design Firm Invest in Local Economy with Purchase of Fort Bend Landmark “Gem”

Artist’s Rendering of 2700 Lake Olympia

HOUSTON (Sept. 28, 2011) — Through a partnership formed by George E. Johnson, CEO of George E. Johnson Development, Inc. and Thomasine Johnson, principal of En’terior Designs, the Johnsons are the new owners of a gem of an office building located in the master planned community of Lake Olympia. The building was the original sales office and community building for this master planned community. The owners have named the property “2700 Lake Olympia.” The revitalized property will house offices for both firms and offer office lease space for other professional businesses.

Additionally, the new owners have launched a community development design initiative to showcase preferred construction and design merchants in Fort Bend County. Merchants interested in helping to revitalize this landmark gem should be prepared to provide materials and installation by Friday, Oct. 28, 2011.

Merchants with renovation specialties (flooring, electrical wiring, plumbing, painting, fixtures, landscape, carpentry, window installation/window treatments, etc.) should contact En’terior Designs by Friday, Oct. 7, to receive a Preferred Merchant Information Packet. The preferred merchant and community-wide property showcases are tentatively scheduled to be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5, 2011, respectively.

The Johnsons have partnered with Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity and Houston Habitat for Humanity. The organizations will receive a portion of the proceeds from the showcase event, which will have a show home event format.

“We are thrilled to convert this Lake Olympia property into a business center,” said Thomasine Johnson. “The property’s waterfront views are amazing. We like to say it is a property with ‘an amazing point of view,’ referring to the calming waterfront views.” Business owners interested in leasing a space should contact George E. Johnson Development Inc. at 713.721.5555 as soon as possible.

Lake Olympia is rich with Texas history. Originally known as the Palmer Plantation and owned by Judge Palmer’s family and heirs for more than 100 years, Lake Olympia was officially opened as a master planned community development in April 1984.

“Adding a new chapter to Texas history is exciting as is bringing new life to an unused facility. We hope to inspire other developers to renovate unused or underutilized properties for the betterment of the community and economy,” shared George Johnson.
