Texas Legislative Black Caucus Members Cry Foul on Interim Texas House Maps

Historical African American Communities Torn Apart in House Maps for 2012 Elections

WHO:         State Representative Sylvester Turner, State Representative Harold Dutton, State Representative Borris Miles, State Representative Dr. Alma Allen (Members of Texas Legislative Black Caucus)

WHAT:       Houston-area members of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus cite the devastating impact on neighborhoods and  traditional communities of interest, which bind the African American community together in the Houston area.  4 African American members of the Texas House from Houston will hold a very important press conference on Monday, December 5th at 11 am to lay out just what this will mean to the community. Held at the site of a venerable community center, The Hester House in the Fifth Ward, which is now stripped from its historical legislative district under the interim map. Not all minority groups, especially African Americans, are happy with the interim maps as they feel their communities have been adversely affected.  Make sure to attend to get the complete side of the Texas House Redistricting saga.

WHERE:    The Julia C. Hester House, 2020 Solo Street, Houston, TX 77020 - Auditorium

WHEN:       Monday, December 5th at 11 a.m.
