TEA approves Houston Community College as Continuing Professional Education provider

Houston Community College  is pleased to announce that the institution has been approved as a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) provider for the state of Texas.

All CPE providers like HCC’s Online Continuing Education must be approved and registered by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) and Texas Education Agency (TEA). Only those CPE activities from approved registered providers will be recognized for certificate renewal purposes. This registration ensures that activities offered for CPE credit support the professional growth of educators in the knowledge and skills necessary to improve student achievement in Texas public schools. Classroom teachers in Texas are required to renew their classroom standard certificate every five years, which includes completing 150 clock hours of CPE training.

By being designated as a CPE provider, certified teachers can now choose to complete their certificate renewal requirements online with HCC. This opportunity is not just limited to the Houston area, with over 320,000 teachers in Texas; teachers are able to benefit from online instruction with HCC more readily than ever before.

HCC offers over 60 online continuing education training courses in the area of Teaching and Education. Our instructor-led courses are informative, fun, convenient and highly interactive.  We focus on creating warm, supportive communities for our learners. New course sessions begin monthly.
