Stars Shine for Collars for a Cause

Nate Berkus, Joy Behar, and Chelsea Handler to Design Collars

SNAP is thrilled to announce that designer Nate Berkus, television personality Joy Behar, and comedian/author Chelsea Handler have all signed on to produce collars for Collars for a Cause! We are also excited to announce the support of additional sponsors for Collars for a Cause and SNAPshots 2010!

Collars for a Cause is a new feature of the annual SNAPshots Celebration. The goal is to collect 229 creative and unique dog and cat collars. These collars are being designed by celebrities, artists, and fashion designers. The number 229 represents the number of dogs and cats euthanized daily in the Houston area as a result of animal overpopulation. The SNAPshots Celebration and Collars for a Cause are presented by Brett Chisholm Photography.

Writer, comedian, actor, and television host Joy Behar is best known for being one of the Emmy award winning original hosts of The View on ABC. She took to the airwaves hosting her own show on HLN, a CNN network in the fall of 2009. Behar has a number of film, theater, and television credits as well, including Woody Allen’s Manhattan Murder Mystery and a stint on the TV series Baby Boom.

Nate Berkus is an interior designer most famous for his longtime association with the Oprah Winfrey show. Berkus showcased his home makeovers on the show and offered viewers his design advice. He left Oprah in May and will begin hosting his own show in September on NBC. He is the owner of Nate Berkus Associates, a premier interior design firm in Chicago, Illinois.

Comedian Chelsea Handler is a major force in the television and publishing worlds. She started as a comedian and had her own stand-up special on the Comedy Central network in 2007. She has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno a number of times and in many situation comedies. She began hosting Chelsea Lately, E! Entertainment network’s highest-rated series, in 2007. She conquered the publishing world in March of 2008 by simultaneously holding the top three spots on the New York Times Best Seller list.

New sponsors have pledged their support to SNAPshots and Collars for a Cause as well. Merial Ltd., a verterinary pharmaceutical supplier, and DigitalFunction, a web and media design firm, have both signed on to support the event. DigitalFunction will construct and maintain the Collars for a Cause website where all of the collars will be available for viewing. We are grateful to both of these sponsors for their generous support of this event!

SNAP is sincerely grateful to have the support and participation of these wonderful celebrities and sponsors as well as that of the many others announced in previous issues of SNAPtales. The SNAPshots Celebration event takes place on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Winter Street Studios.
