Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison will make her State of the Senate address at a special luncheon hosted by Greater Houston Partnership, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Oct. 26, at the Intercontinental Houston, 2222 W. Loop South.
As the 111th United States Congress winds down this fall and plans gear up for the 112th edition, Sen. Hutchison will continue her fight to ensure that our state is represented and our voices are heard.
“The passage of the NASA Authorization Act of 2010 taught everyone two very important lessons,” said Jeff Moseley, GHP president and CEO. “First, what happens in Congress has a direct impact on our regional economy, and second, Sen. Hutchison is a powerful leader who fights for jobs and paychecks.”
Sen. Hutchison was first elected to the Senate in a 1993 special election. She has since been reelected three more times and is still the state’s only female U.S. Senator in its history. She is the senior Republican on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. Additionally, she serves on the Appropriations Committee, the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, and the Committee on Rules and Administration.
“As the country continues to face challenges to its economy and job creation, Congress will be forced to make some tough decisions when they reconvene,” Moseley said. “Our business community takes great comfort in knowing Sen. Hutchison is looking out for our well being.”
