HOUSTON (April, 2012) – The 9th annual Texas Black Expo Juneteenth Summer Celebration will be hosted in the city of Houston Thursday, June 14 – Sunday, June 17, 2012, making it the largest celebration of the annual Juneteenth holiday in the state of Texas. One of the signature Texas Black Expo events for the corporate community is an annual Corporate Breakfast that honors Texas’ “Green Giants”, co-presented by the Houston Area Urban League and the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce.
This event is designed to honor those that are making strides in the area of energy conservation and environmental responsibility. This year’s Corporate Breakfast keynote speaker will be Jason Few, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer of NRG Energy and President of Reliant.
Mr. Few is responsible for leading all aspects of NRG integrated energy solutions and sales. In addition, he is President of the Reliant retail business. He also actively serves on several business and community boards including the Greater Houston Partnership and Rebuilding Together Houston. Mr. Few holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
The Corporate Breakfast is a collaborative effort between the Texas Black Expo, the Houston Area Urban League, the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce. The event will kick off the Economic & Eco-Enterprise Summit at the Four Seasons Hotel to be hosted throughout the afternoon. Sessions will include:
“Preparing and Positioning Your Business for Profits” and “How to Do Business with State Agencies and other Multi-Million Dollar Organizations”. Panelists will include members of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus, Health & Human Services Commission, Texas Department of Transportation, Port of Houston, City of Houston, and other invited guests.
Immediately following the first session of the Summit, the Texas Legislative Black Caucus will host an Elected Officials Luncheon that is open to the public (tickets required). Additionally, there will also be a showcase of various corporate and state agencies available to discuss business opportunities with Summit attendees. All sessions are FREE to the public, and tickets to the Corporate Breakfast and Legislators Luncheon may be purchased online at texasblackexpo.com.
