New 10K Race Added to 5K Run and Kids One-Mile Fun Run

HOUSTON, TX – On Saturday, May 26, Astros fans are invited to race to their own finish line by participating in the Astros In Action Foundation Race for the Pennant. This year’s race is presented by The Methodist Hospital and endorsed by the Houston Marathon Committee. Proceeds from the race benefit the Astros In Action Foundation.

The Astros are celebrating the 10th anniversary of this popular event by adding a 10K race to the long-standing 5K run and kids’ one-mile fun run. Both the 10K and 5K races begin at Minute Maid Park in front of Union Station on Crawford Street and proceed along the west side of the ballpark toward the Elysian Viaduct. The 5K race turns at the end of the Elysian Viaduct and then heads back into downtown on LaBranch Street, while the 10K race will turn at Malverne Street before heading back to Minute Maid Park. Both courses will turn left on Congress Street past Chenevert Street before finishing inside the ballpark. The course is a USATF Certified Course (Certification #TX09026ETM). The Race for the Pennant 10K is an official 2013 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon qualifying event.
