Red Cat Jazz Cafe, located downtown Houston at 924 Congress St. between Main and Travis, has been bringing great Jazz talent to Houston consistently year after year. As one of the top Jazz Clubs in Houston, the ambiance takes you into a mood and vibe that relaxes you while the music soothes your soul. Top performing artist frequent the stages every day of the week giving live entertainment to the audience. The night of February 9 was a perfect example. Mary Griffin, featured backup singer for Patti LaBelle, had the crowd vibing to her phenomenal vocal sounds. Spectators were trying to anticipate her next move as she went from the stage to the bar to the front of the club, on a wireless mic, singing her personal tunes and your favorite tunes. Headliner Mike Phillips, the extremely talented saxophonist who is signed with Hidden Beach Records (Jill Scott’s label) and has played for Prince, Steve Wonder, as well as Jill Scott, blew out tunes that just soothed every soul in the club. His music was breathtaking. This type of talent is not out of the norm for Red Cat Jazz Cafe.
“Mary Griffin and Mike Phillips raise the bar every time they perform in the Red Cat.”
