First Tailgating Event, Rainbow Uniforms Also Part of Homestand
HOUSTON, TX — The Astros upcoming six-game homestand will include several events at and around Minute Maid Park. The Astros are hosting the Cincinnati Reds (Fri-Sun.) and St. Louis Cardinals (Tue.-Thu.) during the homestand.
PRE-DRAFT MEDIA SESSION
Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow and Assistant G.M./Director of Scouting Bobby Heck will be available on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the press conference room at Minute Maid Park for a pre-draft media session. The Astros will have the first overall pick in Monday night’s MLB First Year Player Draft.
WALK OF FAME INDUCTION
The Astros will induct former All-Star J.R. Richard into the new Walk of Fame outside Minute Maid Park during a ceremony at 3 p.m. on Friday. The ceremony, which will be hosted by Astros longtime television broadcaster Bill Brown, will be held on the Texas Ave. sidewalk outside Minute Maid Park. The Astros Walk of Fame was introduced this season as part of the Astros 50th anniversary celebration, which is being presented by The Methodist Hospital System.
KICK-OFF TO SUMMER PARTY
Prior to Friday night’s 7:05 p.m. game vs. Cincinnati, the Astros will host a special Kick-Off To Summer Party in recognition of the end of the school year. The event, which will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Plaza on Crawford St. outside of Minute Maid Park, will be catered toward teens and young adults and will include music, video games, an appearance by Astros players, and several interactive activities, including rock climbing, a bungee run, a Velcro wall and more. Water, soda and $1.00 hot dogs and popcorn will be available for purchase during the event. No alcohol will be allowed at the event. RAINBOWS RETURN FOR FLASHBACK FRIDAY
The Astros will wear their popular rainbow jerseys from the 1970’s for Friday night’s 7:05 p.m. game vs. the Cincinnati Reds as part of the season-long Flashback Fridays promotion honoring the club’s 50th anniversary. Throughout the 2012 season, the Astros are wearing a different jersey from their past for each Friday night home game. J.R. Richard will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Friday night’s game.
FIRST TAILGATING EVENT
On Saturday, June 2, fans will have the option to tailgate outside an Astros game at Minute Maid Park for the first time ever prior to the 6:15 p.m. Astros-Reds game. Beginning at 3 p.m., tailgating will be allowed in Lot C for fans with a valid pass for that lot. Fans will be allowed to bring grills, tents, chairs, food and beverages to the lot. Tailgating and alcoholic beverages will be allowed in Lot C only.
Water, soda and $1.00 hot dogs and popcorn will also be available for purchase at the event. During the offseason, the Astros made the decision to offer a tailgating option after listening to input from longtime fans. Fans must have an Astros Lot C parking pass in order to bring a vehicle and/or food and beverages into the lot.

Astros third baseman Chris Johnson will sign autographs at no charge in the Astros Team Store at Minute Maid Park on Saturday afternoon from 1:00-2:00 p.m. On one Saturday per month, a different Astros player will sign autographs in the Team Store for free throughout the 2012 season.
