Opening Reception of Anointed and Adorned: Indian Weddings in Houston presented by Houston Arts Alliance

Weddings everywhere highlight timeless traditions of the blissful couple’s heritage. Music, decoration and food tell you a great deal about the families involved. The artistry and ritual associated with Indian weddings is now being celebrated through Anointed and Adorned, an exhibit that details the inner workings of Indian weddings in Houston. The recent reception event showcased the work that was researched Rati Ramadas Girish and photographed by Sohil Maknojia.

As one of the most diverse cities in the Nation, Houston serves as the perfect backdrop for such a project. This particular undertaking shows both the differences in the traditions of a culture and the similarities in wedding of all types. Taste makers and art enthusiast from various communities attended the event. The exhibit runs through mid July.
