NEW KOREAN AMBASSADOR TO DISCUSS U.S. ECONOMIC RELATIONS AT PARTNERSHIP LUNCHEON


The Greater Houston Partnership will welcome His Excellency Han Duk-soo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United States, to a luncheon focusing on economic relations between the two countries. The event is presented in collaboration with Consulate General of the Republic of Korea-Houston and the Korean-American Chamber of Commerce-Houston.

Korea is a trillion dollar economy serving as the United States’ seventh largest trading partner and Houston’s 15th largest trading partner. Trade between Korea and Houston totaled more than $4.5 billion in 2008, representing an increase of 10.3 percent over the previous year. Imports from South Korean rose 38.7 percent in 2008, driven by strong gains in iron and steel.
