Mayor Parker’s BARC Pets of the Week

Jasmine and Marty Represent Two of Many Unique Pets Available for Adoption at BARC

HOUSTON- Mayor Parker’s BARC Pets of the Week, Jasmine and Marty, represent two of many unique pet personalities and features of the shelter’s adorable adoptables. Pets of the Week photos below can also be viewed on BARC’s Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/BARCHouston.

Marty, a Tabby/Domestic Short Hair mix kitten and Jasmine, a Pointer/Dalmatian mix puppy have a lot in common: They are both very sweet, have endless amounts of love to give and most of all – like the other hundreds of animals available for adoption at BARC – they want to find a forever family with whom they can live and grow.

“Marty, Jasmine and the many other adoptable animals at BARC would make perfect pets for loving families,” said Chris Newport, BARC spokesman. “All they need is a chance to show that to a potential adopter. Pictures may be worth a thousand words, but there is only one way to fall in love with the perfect pet: Visit the shelter and meet the animals. You might be surprised at the puppy, dog, cat or kitten that wins your heart. We encourage all Houstonians to take time out of their busy schedules this holiday season and come to BARC to meet the perfect furry companion for your family.”

Name: Jasmine
Animal ID: A1105926
Breed: Pointer / Dalmatian mix
Age: Approximately 4 months old
More about Jasmine: After you notice her beautiful black spots and floppy ears, you will be especially impressed by Jasmine’s unique eyes. She has one blue eye and one brown eye. Jasmine is beautiful inside and out. Jasmine came into BARC as an owner surrender and is a little bit shy. However, with some tender loving care, she warms up to people and is sure to make the perfect companion for a great family. During her photo shoot with the Mayor, it became clear that Jasmine loves to be a lap dog. Mayor Parker even discovered that Jasmine loves for people to scratch right behind her ears. That’s the way to Jasmine’s heart! Jasmine loves to go for car rides and is a quick learner. She also likes to hang out with other dogs. She is spayed, has age-appropriate vaccinations, has a city license and is microchipped.

Name: Marty
Animal ID: A1100040
Breed: Tabby/Domestic Short Hair Mix
Age: Approximately 4 months old
More about Marty: Marty came into BARC at a very young age and was welcomed into the home of one of BARC’s foster pet parents until he was ready for adoption. He is now healthy and happy, and ready to go home with his forever family. Marty is just one of numerous examples of the difference a foster pet parent can make in the life of one of Houston’s homeless animals. He is very outgoing and loves to play. In fact, he was spotted batting at his own tail during his photo shoot with the Mayor. Plus, he gets along well with other cats. Marty will be the perfect addition to a new and loving family. He is neutered, has age-appropriate vaccinations, has a city license and is microchipped.

Be sure to stop by and meet the Mayor’s Pets of the Week and hundreds of other animals waiting for their new home this holiday season.
