Houston Professional Firefighters’ Association Local 341, Pipefitters Local 211, and Plumbers’ Local Union No. 68 Recognize Smith as the Best Candidate To Represent District 137
July 5, 2012 – (HOUSTON, TX) – Jamaal Smith continues to add to his growing coalition of support in his campaign for State Representative, House District 137. Today, the Houston Professional Firefighters’ Association Local 341, Pipefitters Local 211, and Plumbers’ Local Union No. 68 have endorsed Jamaal Smith as their candidate to represent District 137.
“I feel truly honored to have received the endorsement of all of these incredible organizations,” said Smith. “Whether it be the Pipefitters Union, HPFFA or Plumbers’ Local Union; the hard-working men and women in these organizations are who we are running to represent in this campaign.”

The Houston Professional Firefighters’ Association Local 341 is the fourth largest fire union in the nation and seeks to empower and educate local fire fighting professionals. The Plumbers Local Union No. 68 is a union dedicated to the education, organization, and activation of local plumbing professionals. Their active membership tops 1500 members and spans across 42 counties in the state. The Pipefitters Local Union 221 is a multi-craft union whose members work on the fabrication, installation, and servicing of pipe systems.
Jamaal Smith believes that the support of these organizations will be pivotal for his plan to revitalize the economy of District 137.

Jamaal Smith most recently served as policy advisor and community liaison for State Senator Rodney Ellis. Prior to that, Jamaal was the Executive Director of the Harris County Democratic Party and worked as Legislative Director for the late Representative Joe E. Moreno. Jamaal Smith is a resident of Westchase in Southwest Houston and a graduate of the University of Houston. Jamaal is currently pursuing a law degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
