McDonald’s Owner-Operators Association of Greater Houston and Ronald McDonald to Surprise Finalist with the News at McDonald’s Restaurant
A Houston student will be surprised by the McDonald’s Owner Operators of Greater Houston and Ronald McDonald and family, friends and local community to learn he/she was selected as a finalist in McDonald’s Happy Meal Chefs contest. The finalist was invited to a “Reading Program with Ronald McDonald” not realizing that the very story to be read will be more than a story; it will be to announce the opportunity for a once in a lifetime special event.
The eight year-old of Houston is the winner of a trip to the 2012 London Olympic Games where he/she will join kids from around the world as part McDonald’s Global Champions of Play program to celebrate balanced eating and fun play.
Open to parents and guardians with kids ages eight to 11, the contest sought out inspiring stories from families who enjoy cooking with wholesome ingredients at family mealtime. The young chef and his/her mother entered the contest by answering a brief questionnaire and submitting a short video online that creatively showcased their family mealtime.
At the Olympics, the Houston finalist will meet Olympic athletes; attend Olympic sporting events; participate in cooking activities that promote balanced eating and have the exclusive privilege of playing with athletes at the Olympic venues.
The Happy Meal Chefs contest was launched as part of McDonald’s new Happy Meal campaign which aims to help make nutrition fun for kids. The new Happy Meal campaign is McDonald’s latest initiative to support its “Commitments to Offer Improved Nutrition Choices,” announced July 2011.
