Houston Dash Announce Friendly Match Against FC Dallas ECNL U-23 Women’s Team

Match scheduled for June 21 at Roffino Stadium in Dallas

The Houston Dash will play a friendly match against the FC Dallas Elite Clubs National League Under-23 women’s team on Saturday, June 21 at Roffino Stadium in Dallas, it was announced today. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT.

The match will feature a family coaching battle, as Dash head coach Randy Waldrum will face his son, Ben, who leads the FC Dallas ECNL U-23s. It will also be a homecoming for Waldrum, who is a native of Irving,Texas, and two Dash players: Nikki Washington (Mesquite) and Marissa Diggs (Rowlett). Dash goalkeeper Erin McLeod also played two seasons at Southern Methodist University.

The FC Dallas ECNL side is mostly comprised of top college players from Texas A&M, Baylor, Texas, TCU, SMU, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame and North Carolina. The team also features a few recent college standouts in University of Texas alumni Hannah Higgins and Kristen Cummins, as well as former Texas A&M standout Rachel Shipley.

FC Dallas will begin its second season in the Elite Clubs National League Under-23 division in early June after finishing 3rd in the nation in the 2013 season.

The Dash begin their inaugural season on April 12 at BBVA Compass Stadium against reigning NWSL champions Portland Thorns FC. Individual tickets are available for purchase at or by calling (713) 276-GOAL.



The Houston Dash are a National Women’s Soccer League club that will begin play in April 2014 for the start of the league’s second season. The Dash are the first expansion club in the NWSL, joining the eight original members that launched the league in 2013. The NWSL is supported by the Canadian Soccer Association, Federation of MexicanFootball and the United States Soccer Federation. It is the top-flight women’s professional soccer league in North America, featuring many of the top players from the United States, Canada and Mexico, as well as talent from around the world. The 24-game regular season runs from April through August. The team trains at Houston Sports Park (HSP), the premier training facility in Southeast Texas, and plays at BBVA Compass Stadium in downtown Houston.
