On Saturday, June 11, 2011, the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals in partnership with the Houston Area Urban League and the HAUL Guild will host the “Total You” Health and Wellness Fair held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Emancipation Park in the Third Ward community.
The “Total You” Health and Wellness Fair is located at 3018 Dowling Street. The hosts expect more than 300 residents from the Third Ward area and surrounding communities to participate in the health fair festivities. The free event will include fitness boot camps, health screenings, basketball contests, youth activities, entertainment and food.
“We are looking forward to hosting the fair as this is a part of our National Day of Service with the National Urban League Young Professionals. The fair gives us the ability to empower families to manage their overall wellbeing and educate them on issues such as childhood obesity, heart disease and diabetes,” stated April Todd, community outreach co-chair of the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals.
Our National Day of Service is a one-day commitment for National Urban League Young Professional chapters across the country. HAULYP is taking that commitment on by encouraging families to take control of their health to improve overall their quality of life.
