Art exhibit featuring Chinese artist Peihong D. Endris complements celebration
HOUSTON (January, 2012) – Houston Community College Southeast is hosting a Lunar New Year Celebration at its Eastside Campus location Monday, January 23.The celebration will include international food, dancers, and keynote speaker Dr. Yueh-neu “Joanne” Lin at 11:30 a.m. in the Learning Hub Multi-purpose room. Later, at 6:00p.m., an art exhibit featuring artist Peihong D. Endris, will take place in the Art Gallery on the second floor of the Learning Hub. The evening celebration will include food and traditional Chinese Dragon dancers.
Peihong’s works have been included in several art books. Her painting, “Fragrant Moonlit Night”, was presented by the Chinese Government to the French Government. People in the United States, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and elsewhere have collected her work.
Since 1999, Peihong has lived in the U.S., where she teaches Chinese brush painting and continues to develop her own style. She is a member of the Beijing Branch of the Chinese Artist’s Association, the Beijing Friendship Association of Painters and Calligraphers of the Two Sides of the Taiwan Straits, and the Dongfang Calligraphy and Painting Society.
