Houston Community College received a grant of $900,000 from the US Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) to establish an MBDA office in Houston. The MBDA office is now in operation and is located at 2302 Fannin.
This new agency joins the 40 MBDA centers in the country, and serves the Houston minority business community. By offering access to contracts, procurement, financing, exporting, mergers, partnerships and business advising, MBDA is promoting the mission of its agency to grow minority owned businesses to create new jobs and grow our economy.
The MBDA team is comprised of business advisors who have practical business expertise and experience needed to run a successful and profitable business. They are Roger Harris, Director; Mark Praigg, Business Advisor; Mayte Mitre-Tunison, Business Advisor; and Ngoc Doan, Office Manager.
HCC is now the only community college in the country to offer both the MBDA and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Initiative. The MDBA office will host an open house in early January 2014.
