As a new academic year approaches for college students across the city, HCC Central is giving Houstonians a glimpse of what success looks like at its campus: Stories of Success: Houston Community College Central is a compilation of stories of 12 college students and families who often beat tremendous odds to graduate and go forward in their lives.
Stories of Success: Houston Community College Central will show what is possible when hard work, determination and high expectations come together in one place – HCC Central.
“HCC Central is a diverse college community with extraordinary students with extraordinary stories about life, human struggles and a passion to succeed in a college environment that supports learning and success,” says Dr. William W. Harmon, President of HCC Central. “We hope by reading these stories of success, students will want to engage in the educational opportunities available to them today.”
The individuals featured in the collection represent students from a cross-section of academic, workforce and specialized programs offered at HCC Central. All received either associate degrees or certificates of completion. The vast majority of students are continuing their educational aspirations at four-year universities. The message from all students in the collection is universal: reach high and work hard to succeed in life.
“This is your opportunity to succeed,” says Dr. Harmon. “Come join us by completing the registration process and begin that success story that belongs to you.”
