HOUSTON, TX – Houston Community College Board of Trustees Chairman Richard Schechter became the chair-elect of the Community College Association of Texas Trustees (CCATT) during their annual meeting, Saturday, June 4, 2011. CCATT is the statewide organization representing elected community college trustees. The association focuses on providing resources and training for Texas trustees and on advancing education and increased recognition of the impact of community colleges on the economy of Texas.
“This is a great honor for me. I am proud to have the opportunity to advocate for community colleges and their importance to the economic stability and recovery of the State of Texas. I look forward to working with my fellow trustees throughout the state to ensure access to higher education for all Texans who need and want it,” Schechter said.
HCC Board Chair Schechter is the trustee for District 5, and has served on the HCC Board of Trustees since 2006.
The annual CCATT conference was held at the Austin Community College Highland Business Center. Trustees and College Presidents from all regions of Texas attended the annual meeting.
