Troop 14428 Joins Mayor Parker for BARC Pets of The Week Photo Shoot at City Hall

HOUSTON- A Houston Girl Scout Troop posed with Mayor Parker and two adorable adoptables from the City of Houston’s animal shelter and adoption center for the Mayor’s BARC Pets of the Week photo shoot. Pets of the Week photos below can also be viewed on BARC’s Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/BARCHouston.

“We are thrilled that the Girl Scout Troop joined the Mayor to snap a couple of photos with BARC’s pets,” said Chris Newport, BARC spokesman. “We enjoyed meeting such a great group of girls and we look forward to working with them as they come out to BARC and volunteer in the future.”

Ten girls from Troop 14428 gathered around the Mayor for photos with Donner and Penelope, the Mayor’s BARC Pets of the Week, to help promote two of many dogs and cats available for adoption at BARC.

“The girls were so excited to be involved in the Mayor’s BARC Pets of the Week photo shoot,” said Teresa Goebel, Troop 14428 leader. “They can’t wait to visit BARC and support these wonderful animals by volunteering their time to help make sure each dog and cat at the shelter finds a forever home.”

Donner, the cat of the week, was adopted from BARC soon after his photo shoot with the Mayor and the Girl Scout Troop. Penelope, the dog of the week, is still available for adoption.

Penelope deserves a wonderful new family to curl up with in this chilly weather. She would be the perfect dog to join your family as you welcome the New Year.
