GHP to Make Major Capital Campaign Announcement

Drayton McLane to head regional initiative

Houston – The Greater Houston Partnership and Drayton McLane, Jr. will announce a new major initiative that will impact jobs, capital investment and talent attraction for the Houston region. Chevron will be a key contributor to the initiative along with a number of leading Houston companies, individual investors and institutions.

Houston was the last major U.S. metro to enter the recent recession and the first major metro to recover all of its pre-recession jobs lost. The region continues to lead the state’s economy, with no other metro adding as many jobs. According to data recently released by the Texas Workforce Commission, the Houston region accounted for 95,800 or 34.7 percent of the 276,400 jobs created in Texas from October, 2011 to October, 2012.

GHP is the primary business advocate for the 10-county Houston region. Through its award-winning Opportunity Houston SM lead generation and marketing program, GHP is helping to create 600,000 regional jobs, attract $60 billion in capital investment and expand foreign trade by $120 billion for the greater Houston area during the 10-year period ending in 2015. McLane, chairman of The McLane Group and former Houston Astros owner, chairs GHP’s Opportunity Houston SM program.
