Houston, TX. – The Greater Houston Partnership applauds the announcement by Turkish Airlines to begin nonstop air service between Houston and Istanbul, Houston’s first nonstop service from Southern Europe. This service will enhance our trade with Turkey and other Southern European countries while also offering new connections for both business and leisure travelers.
GHP accompanied HAS Director Mario Diaz to Turkey last year and also to New York to meet with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in an effort to bring this service to Bush Intercontinental Airport. We are proud that Turkish Airways has recognized that Houston is truly a global city with enormous potential in the future.
The Greater Houston Partnership is the primary advocate of Houston’s business community and is dedicated to building regional economic prosperity. It represents 10 counties: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, San Jacinto and Waller. With more than 2,100 Member organizations, GHP represents approximately one-fifth of the region’s work force.
