Behind the lights and sounds of the carnival, the glamour and excitement of the performances by top music acts, and the rough and tumble nature of a wild rodeo, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is big business. And with a regional impact of more than $320 million it is business as big as Texas!
“Ours is the largest rodeo in attendance with more than 1.2 million visitors a year,” says Skip Wagner, president of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. “It’s definitely big business.”
The Houston Young Professionals Endeavor – HYPE – a young professional group of the Greater Houston Partnership is proud to host Wagner for the Business of the Rodeo, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at The Hideout in Reliant Park.
Wagner will discuss the history of the rodeo, the impact it has on our region and state – in both incremental tax revenue as well as direct scholarship funds raised, and about the newly unveiled smart phone rodeo app. In addition, the audience will learn how to become one of the 24,000 volunteers serving on 104 committees that make the event possible.
So put on your boots, your best jeans and hat and be ready to network with other young professionals from the Houston region at one of the Rodeo’s best watering holes. You’ll also be supporting one of Houston’s largest charitable events of the year – the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!
