Gente de Teatro will return to the stage on September 20 & 21, 2013 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts with “Fuga” (Escape) by renowned Spanish playwright Jordi Galcerán (Performances in Spanish with English surtitles). This show has been presented last May at Hamman Hall, Rice University with great success.
Fuga (Escape), an uproariously funny comedy of errors with a superb text and a very fast-moving dialogue has been one of the biggest hits on the Madrid stage for the last couple of seasons. Fuga tells the story of a Spanish government secretary who resigns his post after a scandal in which he has been involved becomes public. At that very critical moment, though, someone happens to knock on his door, and through it a host of unusual characters will eventually come on the scene. Their interactions give rise to a series of deliciously complicated incidents and double-entendres. A witty dialogue and a touch of mystery add head-spinning twists and turns to the plot. Fuga is a contemporary satire where intrigue is the order of the day, and we go down a vertiginous path from suspicion to surprise and from amusement to wonder. Jordi Galcerán is also the author of The Grönholm Method (2003), seen by more than two million spectators all over the world.
Gente de Teatro is committed to promoting Latin American & Spanish culture through the work of acclaimed native playwrights.
