Each week, a different movie will be presented along with a farmers market and various activities throughout the park. The Movie Night Series will begin with the farmers market at 5pm and the movie to start at 8pm. Along with each movie, various organizations will hold activities that correspond with the theme of that night.
The remaining dates will take place on June 17 and June 24.
On June 17th, Back to the Future will be presented along with Odyssey Science Club who will showcase a variety of demonstrations. The Master of Ceremonies will be KTRK- ABC 13 Meteorologist Travis Herzog.
The finale will occur on June 24th, featuring The Wizard of Oz. The Houston Zoo will be in attendance with their Zoo Mobile and the Houston Community College Northwest Choir will be singing prior to the start of the movie. Representatives from the Major League Soccer team, the Houston Dynamo, will also attend the event that night.
Free face painting and an inflatable moon bounce will entertain the children, while the farmers market will showcase a variety of vendors with gourmet prepared food and locally grown produce.
“I am very excited to have had such a great turnout for the first two Fridays of the Movie Night Series, said Council Member Stardig. “Community events like this one not only build a stronger sense of community, but it shows off the great amenities the park has, as well as organizations around Houston.”
Comcast, Goya Foods, Greenstar Recycling, Houston Community College, and Republic Services are sponsoring the event.
