EAST END FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE NEW EAST END DEVELOPMENT

Houston, TX- Houston is internationally known for a variety of diverse cultural and entertainment events and its world class cuisine. The Greater East End Management District (GEEMD) and its partners are out to add one more title to the list, “The Best Houston Taco!”

Taco trucks from the Bayou City will gather and battle for the best taco during the first ever East End Street Festival. This festival is also timed to the near completion of the METRO Light Rail Line, completion of the Houston Dynamo Stadium, as well as the beautification and economic redevelopment occurring in Houston’s East End.

The East End Street Festival is scheduled for Cinco de Mayo and has the enthusiastic backing from all of the respective partners, METRO Rail, Silver Eagle Distributors, the Houston Dynamo, Harrisburg Rotary, the East End Chamber of Commerce and the GEEMD. The event will be held along Harrisburg Boulevard near the CVS Pharmacy at Lockwood Drive.

There will be over ten local performing artists participating, including Norma Zenteno, Rebel Crew Hip Hop and Los Pistoleros de Tejas, display of local artworks, and a variety of activities and vendors. Two other scheduled event highlights are the best decorated taco truck and the display of local art cars. The winning taco will have the coveted crown of being Houston’s Best Taco for a period of one year. All of Houston is invited to join in the celebration to reintroduce the new and improved East End. Admission is free.

The Greater East End Management District was founded in 1999. Its mission is to revitalize the infrastructure and image of the District, to attract more businesses and to increase economic activity in the area. Improvements include new infrastructure, beautification, security, public safety, and workforce development.
