Citizens Have Opportunity to Interact With Candidates
(Houston, TX) – The Houston Alumnae Chapter (HAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated will host a Candidates Forum on Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. This forum will take place at 3333 Old Spanish Trail, in Houston’s Historic Third Ward and is FREE and open to the public.
This event is designed to allow citizens an opportunity to meet and talk with candidates that wish to represent Houstonians interests via municipal government, school board and community college board positions. The candidates that have been invited to speak represent HAC’s service area which is metropolitan Houston including the newly created District K.
Citizens are strongly encouraged to meet candidates running for the positions of Mayor, City Council, Houston Independent School District Trustee and Houston Community College System Trustee.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded at Howard University on January 13, 1913, in Washington D.C. by a group of twenty-two undergraduate women. Those young women demonstrated a vital concern for social welfare, academic excellence, cultural enrichment, and moral standards among its members.
As a sisterhood of approximately 250,000 predominately black college-trained women, the sorority has over ninety chapters nationwide and internationally in Germany, Haiti, Liberia, the Virgin Islands, the Republic of Korea, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.
