Houston, TX.- October 10, 2011 – Houston City Council Member Brenda Stardig will host a press conference at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11 at Fire Station 38 located at 1120 Silber to announce delivery of furniture and supplies for fire stations purchased with Council Member Stardig’s unspent budget funds.
Mayor Annise Parker and the Houston Fire Department Chief Terry Garrison will also be in attendance. Council Member Stardig saved roughly $70,000 of the District A office budget in the fiscal year 2011 and reallocated the unspent funds to District A parks, libraries, police stations, and fire stations.
Approximately $23,000 was allotted to seven fire stations within District A. Items that will be delivered include mattresses, sofas, dining tables and chairs, and office chairs.
“Through being fiscally responsible with my 2011 office budget, I am able to give back to entities that serve our citizens. So much of the recent budget process was about scaling back and through purchasing these supplies it is my hope to boost morale and ensure that we are taking care of our city’s heroes,” said Council Member Stardig.
