Houston, TX – The Spring Branch Medical Center Hospital reopens its doors today in Houston, Texas. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was very instrumental in making sure this much needed hospital opened its doors to the residents of Houston, Texas and its surrounding areas.

“Spring Branch Medical Center is an acute care hospital focusing on a myriad of specialties and is a VITAL medical facility for the Houston area,” commented Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

“This facility is yet another example of Marty McVey’s commitment to developing high quality, cost-effective healthcare services and providing a continuum of services that allows health care professionals to ‘Continue the Care’ for our communities through an entire episode of treatment and recovery,” commented Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

Spring Branch Medical Center (SBMC) is a 299 bed community medical center located in the Spring Branch area of Houston. Since its founding in 1958, SBMC has been a center of progressive medical care. The first open-heart surgery and first angioplasty performed outside the Texas Medical Center were performed at SBMC.

For years the hospital has maintained strong and positive ties with the surrounding community. “The new hospital is designed to help the superb medical team maximize their abilities to provide the best service to the Houston community,” commented Congresswoman Jackson Lee.

The Mission of Spring Branch Medical Center is to provide caring, comprehensive, cost-effective, quality services to the patients, families and community we serve. Talented men and women will insure that the next 53 years at SMBC will be just as memorable for future generations. “With so many advances taking place in medicine, we see much hope for significantly improving patient quality of life for what were once devastating conditions,” commented Congresswoman Jackson Lee
