HOUSTON, TX – After more than twenty years, Texas Southern University alumni Johnnie Cole returns to revive a struggling football program. With an 0-11 season last year, most TSU students, staff and graduates agree a win against Prairie View University during Labor Day Classic would set the momentum for the season. Cole along with the two former head coaches and his staff have won more than 40 championships throughout their careers.
Since rejoining the Tigers, Coach has taken a high profile encouraging the community to come back and support TSU. “Rebuilding a program is a tremendous undertaking. I’m honored to lead this team with returning center Aarron Delong and All-American Quarterback Bobby Reid , I’m anticipating good things and need the entire community to support the program. We have a young team and turning around a program takes time and community support.” states Coach Johnnie Cole.
Coach Johnnie Cole will host the first annual Labor Day Golf Tournament to benefit the “on and off the field” strategies it takes to rebuild TSU. Join Coach Cole August 29, 2008 at 8:00 am for the 1st annual Johnnie Cole Golf Tournament.
