HOUSTON (January, 2012) – Christopher W. Oliver was sworn in Thursday, January 19 for his fourth term as a member of Houston Community College Board of Trustees. Voters re-elected Oliver in November. As the representative for District IX, Oliver was first elected to his seat on the HCC Board of Trustees in 1995. Oliver served as chairman of the HCC Board in 1999 and 2007.
Oliver is a graduate of Texas Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He is the owner/CEO of Tekoa Property Management Group, Inc., a construction final cleaning company.
Also sworn in Thursday were returning board members Bruce A. Austin, District II; Richard M. Schechter, District V; Yolanda Navarro Flores, District I; Neeta Sane, District VII; Eva Loredo, District VIII; Sandie Mullins, District VI; Mary Ann Perez, District III; and new board member Carroll Robinson, District IV. Perez was elected Board Chairman, Austin Vice Chair and Sane Board Secretary for 2012.
HCC is one of the country’s largest singly-accredited, open-admission, community colleges offering associate degrees, certificates, workforce training and lifelong learning opportunities for 70,000 students each semester. HCC is composed of six colleges that serve the greater Houston area’s diverse communities by preparing individuals to live and work in today’s increasingly international and technological society.
