BUSINESS LEADERS, PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS TO DISCUSS PLANNING FOR REGIONAL IMPACT OF H1N1

In response to growing concerns within the region’s business community, the Greater Houston Partnership will host a full-day educational forum on maintaining operational continuity in the face of the Influenza A virus, or H1N1, on Tuesday, October 20th, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be presented in collaboration with the Houston Department of Health and Human Services; Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services; The University of Texas School of Public Health; and Devon Energy.

“As the primary advocate for businesses in the 10-county region, we felt it to be our responsibility to provide our Members with the best information on the H1N1 virus and to engage in an educational dialogue on best practices in business continuity and ways to protect employees,” said Jeff Moseley, President and CEO of the Partnership.

The forum will include presentations by noted health practitioners and business contingency planning experts from across the region. The day’s featured speakers will be David E. Persse, MD, Physician Director, Emergency Medical Services, City of Houston and Public Health Authority, Department of Health and Human Services, City of Houston; and Herminia Palacios, MD, MPH, Executive Director, Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services.
