BARC Wishes Houston a Merry Christmas!

Santa will visit the City of Houston’s Adoption Center this Saturday for Last Minute Pet Photos

Merry Christmas Houston!

HOUSTON- BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions wishes “Merry Christmas!” to Houston. The City of Houston’s animal shelter is celebrating the upcoming holiday with half price adoptions Saturday, December 22 and Sunday, December 23: The adoption fees will be $37.50 for dogs/puppies and $15 for cats/kittens. BARC plans to include a gift with the first 40 adoptions.

Plus, Santa plans to stop by BARC from noon to 4p.m. on Saturday, December 22 for last minute pet photos. All Houstonians and BARC adopters are welcome to have their pet participate in the photos. Pet owners may provide their own camera, or BARC will take the photo and print a copy of the photo for a $5 donation. All donations are welcome. Thanks to Friends of BARC for sponsoring Santa’s visit.

Every Houstonian is sure to find the perfect pet at BARC, whether it’s a buddy for a current pet, a running partner, a lap pet or the perfect companion for a family. Each BARC animal has its own unique look and personality, and each one deserves a wonderful new family this holiday season. BARC’s pet adoption package includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a city license, a microchip with lifetime registration and more. Visit the “About Adopting at BARC” page on BARC’s website to get more details about BARC’s adoption process, including adoption requirements.

In observance of the Christmas holiday, BARC will be closed to the public on Tuesday, December 25. BARC will re-open on Wednesday, December 26 at noon.

“We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” said Chris Newport, BARC spokesman. “So many people have made this the best year in BARC’s history. We are very grateful to our volunteers and staff. They are responsible for all the life-changing work that gets done at BARC, and we hope each of them enjoys this time with their families. May all Houstonians, and their four legged furry friends, have a safe and wonderful holiday. We encourage anyone who is able to adopt a pet to visit BARC this weekend and give a BARC animal a loving new home this holiday season.”

If you are unable to permanently adopt a pet but would like to help animals in need, BARC encourages you to consider becoming a volunteer or foster pet parent at BARC. You can also donate to BARC online via the Houston BARC Foundation, by clicking here. Visit www.houstonbarc.com or www.Facebook.com/BARCHouston for more information.

The simplest, but most powerful thing you can do to help BARC, and pets throughout our community, is to talk to your friends, neighbors, and family about caring for pets responsibly.
