ASTROS LAUNCH NEW ROOT! ROOT! ROOT! CAMPAIGN FOR 2012

Emphasizes Team’s Passion For Baseball; Encourages Support of Fans, Community

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Astros have officially launched their new ad campaign for 2012 entitled ROOT! ROOT! ROOT!, based on the familiar, classic song “Take Me Out To The Ballgame,” which is played in every Major League ballpark during the seventh-inning stretch. The campaign will also launch simultaneously in Spanish entitled ¡DALE! ¡DALE! ¡DALE! Both feature new and returning players in action.

The campaign emphasizes the enthusiasm and passion for baseball shared by the Astros new ownership group led by Jim Crane and also encourages fans and the city to support the home team. The campaign will also reflect the excitement surrounding the 50th anniversary of the ball club and what it means to the fans, the city of Houston and throughout Major League Baseball.

The Astros are entering a fresh, new era in 2012 which is reflected in the ROOT! ROOT! ROOT! campaign. In addition to a new ownership group, the Astros will have a new, exciting, young team on the field that will play with enthusiasm. The campaign will introduce the new players to the fans, and will also reinforce the tradition­al elements that make coming out to the ballpark a memorable and enjoyable experience for fans of all ages.

In the upcoming weeks, the Astros will promote the ROOT! ROOT! ROOT! campaign in a variety of ways, includ­ing social media, in print, through email campaigns and on billboards, radio, t-shirts, wallscapes, pole banners and columns.

“We are excited about the start of our first season on Opening Day,” said Astros Owner and Chairman Jim Crane. “We look forward to the fans joining us at Minute Maid Park and rooting for the Astros.”

The fan experience at Minute Maid Park has been a top priority of the Astros. Minute Maid Park has been one of the top venues in the country for the past several seasons, and in 2012 that fan experience will be better than ever as a result of the popular initiatives put into place by Crane. Reduced ticket prices, exciting new menu options and a revised policy on bringing food and water into the ballpark will positively benefit a wide range of Astros fans.
