An Art Exhibit Celebrating Venezuelan Art and Culture
Casa Cultural de las Americas brings Venezuela to Houston. Using the universal language of art, CCA is presenting the Venezuelan culture in a unique atmosphere where Houstonians are offered the opportunity to view, experience and celebrate Venezuelan art and culture.
The art of Serafim Sousa and Rafael Pereda will be presented opening night, Friday, June 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the HCC Southeast campus on the second floor of the Learning Hub. Guests will enjoy the art in its many different forms, from oil to pencil even to the culture’s custom clothing. “Euroamerican Brushstrokes” will be on exhibit through July 10 for anyone who wants to see and experience this exclusive event.
Sousa’s artwork reflects his studies of painting, sculpture and interior architecture; he is represented in private collections in Venezuela, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland, the United States and Venezuela. Pereda, a native of Maracaibo, Venezuela, has followed his artistic passion which led to continuous experimentation and study of art in its technique and history.
Cultural Houston of the Americas is a major cultural project that aims to preserve, promote, research and disseminate the art, science and American cultural heritage in order to contribute to the strengthening of identity as a continent.
