Sue L. Nguyen Children’s Enrichment Center Dedication
The Houston Area Women’s Center dedicated their Children’s Enrichment Center after the late Sue L. Nguyen. Sue left behind a legacy to be remembered and an extraordinary gift to the Houston Area Women’s Center. Thanks to the generosity of Sue and her family, the Children’s Enrichment Center was remodeled and much-needed improvements were added including a brand-new children’s library, a science corner, and a “home area” complete with couches where adults can interact with their children and feel at home. The Enrichment Center is a safe space where children who’ve suffered from the effects of violence can play, learn, express themselves, make positive memories and build their lives free of violence.
Sue was a dedicated guidance counselor in the Houston Independent School District for more than 20 years. She willingly gave her time, energy, compassion and concern to help her students empower themselves through personal growth and education.
“Through the Sue L. Nguyen Children’s Enrichment Center, Sue will continue to nurture, encourage and advocate for children. Over the years, Sue’s legacy will touch the lives of thousands more children. This room will nurture future scientists, artists, doctors, and teachers – because, like Sue, we see the potential in all the children who come through our doors, no matter how difficult their start in life has been.” Diana Hudson, Houston Area Women’s Center Board Chair
