April 21 summer internship fair will connect students with small business and nonprofit prospective employers
The Mayor’s Office of Education Initiatives, a division of the Department of Neighborhoods, is teaming up with lead sponsor SureScore in support of InternInHouston, a new initiative designed to promote small business and nonprofit sector internships for area students.
The office joins numerous InternInHouston collaborating partners, including colleges and universities, chambers of commerce, the Governor’s office and community agencies, in efforts to create new opportunities for students to gain in-demand workforce skills and experience through summer and year-round internships.
InternInHouston sponsors a fair each semester to connect nonprofit organizations and established and start-up small businesses with students seeking internship opportunities. The program also maintains a website where employers can access “best practices” tools and templates designed to help them develop effective internship programs.
Summer Internship Fair – April 21, 2013 InternInHouston will sponsor a summer internship fair on Sunday, April 21, 2 to 5 p.m., at Crowne Plaza Houston-River Oaks, 2712 Southwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77098. Registration will be limited to first 150 employers and 800 students to register for the fair. To register, visit www.InternInHouston.org.
