An Afternoon of Holiday Cheer at the Houston Public Library

It’s going to be an afternoon full of holiday cheer at the Houston Public Library and everyone is invited to join in the fun. The Library will be celebrating the winter holiday season with family friendly, literary inspired programs at its annual Season’s Readings series presentations. On Saturday, December 15, 2012 there will be two outstanding events from 1:30 PM to 5 PM. These events are free and open to the public. For more details visit or call 832-393-1313.

WHAT: Music for the Season: Houston Youth Symphony, celebrating 65 years of music education, presents string and brass chamber music ensembles performing classical and holiday favorites.

WHAT: Popcorn Kids: Children’s Film Festival: Enjoy a colorful collection of short films from around the world, hand-picked as audience and jury favorites from the 2012 New York International Children’s Film Festival, and brought to the library by the Aurora Picture Show. Kids and kids-at-heart will love this collection of short films that includes a sweet film adapted from the enormously popular “Gruffalo” picture book by British author Julia Donaldson. After the screening there will be a special reading of “Gruffalo” and related crafts.
