Winners get VIP meeting with Academy Award nominated actor Terrence Howard in February 2013
HOUSTON (December 12, 2012) – Harlem’s Apollo Theatre is known worldwide as the birthplace of many famous performers. Houston Community College students are invited to audition for a local version of the celebrated talent showcase “Showtime at the Apollo @ the Heinen,” Friday, January 25, 2013, 7 to 9 p.m. at the HCC Central Campus, 3517 Austin St.
Students who like to sing, dance, do stand-up comedy or perform a dramatic scene or monologue are invited to sign up for an audition.
Auditions will be held at all six HCC colleges on two Fridays, January 11 and 18, 2013. Interested students may call 713.718.6250 or email HCC Central Public Relations at email@example.com for exact locations and times. All student performances must be three minutes or less.
Winners of the competition will receive a VIP meeting with Academy Award nominated actor Terrence Howard, who is the keynote speaker for the HCC Black History Scholarship Gala February 23, 2013.
The competition is sponsored by the HCC Black History Committee, which raises scholarship funds for deserving HCC students.
“Showtime at the Apollo @ the Heinen” is open to the public. Funds will benefit the 2013 HCC Black History Committee Scholarship Gala.
Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for HCC students (with valid ID). Tickets will be available for purchase at www.eventbrite.com.
