Final Arguments Wednesday In Case Against Stanford Associates

Richard Kuniansky Representing Mark Kuhrt

Final arguments begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Houston federal court for two associates of convicted financier R. Allen Stanford.

Mark Kuhrt, represented by attorney Richard Kuniansky, was formerly Global Controller for Stanford’s company. Former Chief Accounting Officer Gil Lopez is his co-defendant. They face charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

The prosecution and the defense will each be given three hours for their final arguments before U. S. District Court Judge Hittner Wednesday.

Kuniansky maintains his client’s innocence, telling the court that he was “conned by one of the greatest con artists ever.”

Stanford was convicted this past March of charges he bilked investors of more than $7 billion. He’s now serving a 110-year sentence.
